Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Fuel Injectors Flow Rate

Does anyone know the flow rate (in cc) of the GTI injectors?

Would upgrading to the K04 require a new fuel regulator and larger injectors? Or will that only be requiered if your going to a GT28 turbo?

Fuel pressure regulator yes, but standard injectors are ok for the K04.

The GT28 i believe needs bigger injectors.

I'd change the injectors for K04 upgrade. Do both for GT28.

The TT and S3 with the 225 hp motors have bigger injectors as std. It would seem sensible tome to go for bigger ones if upgrading the turbo to a K04, unless you are not going to be using a 3 inch MAF.

What you need to know is the desired fuel rate - three factors:

Injector size, Fuel pressure regulator, and fuel pump.

Its not much use putting a 5 bar FPR on it as you anly have a 3 bar fuel pump etc etc. You can go to a 4 bar fuel pump (TT / S3) but to be honest - the K04 is happilly fed by stock injectors & 4 bar FPR (with stock pump)

on our TT kit, we use a 5 bar FPR, 4 bar fuel pump in tank (now as the lift pump), 4 bar fuel pump in line & some pretty big Bosch Motorsport injectors
