Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Anyone have Milltek downpipe mated to stock catback?

    Hi guys,

I"ve done a quick search on the web with no results , so I thought I'd ask here. I'm currently in the market for a downpipe whether it be custom( in Sydney any recommendations?) or the milltek one.
The question is, will the milltek fit straight onto the stock catback like apr downpipes do, or will I have to modify some of the piping? According to miltek website, the downpipe must be fitted to a miltek catback only. Thank you!

I expect the difference is the flange size or lack of a flange.

IMO you would be better off with custom as you will end up paying a shop to modify the Miltek to match up with the Cat anyway.

Check or ask in the recommendations section, I got mine done from a shop on there who were good at the time, apparently not so good now. Expect something around $500.

If you want to go the next step, I have a lovely 2.5" high flow cat that is waiting to go on my car, but turned out to be an expensive exercise on its own (Magnaflow). cheap from a sponsor, happy to let it go cheaper.

I had a milltek dp on my polo and apparently it needed abit of fabrication for it to fit but nothing major. Never had any issues with it once it was fitted.

Sounded awesome, pulled very hard and was probably one if the best mods I did after the tune.

      Well worth it IMO..
