  • boost vs rpm

In case anyone is interested, I thought I would show boost (vertical) vs rmp (horizontal) -- with my current apr flash.
I will be redoing this exercise with my custom code flash.
Peak boost was at about 4400 with 2130mbar (16.5 psi). (VCDS)

Is that logging actual boost or requested? I only ask as that's pretty high rpm for peak boost
From what I've seen, APR or CC, peak boost kicks in around 2500-3000rpm with the K03.
2130mbar is ~17psi which is spot on for APR
I think CC requests closer to 20psi and pushes around 22psi which is nice.. I'd like CC right now TBH but I'll save it for the new hairdryer.

I'll be very interested to know how you find the difference between the two.

Unless I used the wrong code, it is for actual pressure.
You are right, 2130 mbar = approx 16.5 psi.
Two reasons why peak boost comes in late:
      1. This was done in 2nd gear;
2 Perhaps the THS Seat cooler causes some delay.

Will post the same withthe cc soon.

You need to run logs in 3rd gear, you'll never see proper boost in second gear.

The intercooler may have some bearing on things.

Just put the ecu in, and ran the same test on vagcom (115) with custom code. I now need to work with Gavin to fix up a bit, however at first glance, it is not as smooth, but it does boost higher.
At approx 4200 rpm, the requested boost suddently drops off:
          rev's reqsted actual
          4160 2290 2240
4360 1750 2220 **this is where the boost suddenly drops
          4560 1880 1920
4880 2030 1910 **this is where the boost increases again

Peak boost was at about 3700 with 2310mbar ( approx 19 psi). (VCDS)

Can you email me that log mate and confirm you took it in 3rd gear.

            Cheers

Well here's mine against requested boost

and actual boost in psi against revs.

Might help to compare. I'm running superchips tune. Max actual boost 17psi. I'd have to relearn the maths to recalculate, but max requested mbar is 2200 at 3700 rpm.

Did it in 2nd gear again, just to do a like for like test.
I will do it in 3rd gear tomorrow; but I like it seems to pull off the mark quicker.
I will however mail the logs to you.
BTW: this is customer service, a voicemail on my mobile at 22:30 from Gav (just a bit embarassed to phone back at 23:50)

I said I was up until Midnight.

You need to do the 3rd gear pulls, 2nd will never give you a good look at what's going on, it's over too quick. The sampling rate is too low to capture much info.

                    In third gear...looks much beter
peak boost at 3640 rpm with 2400 mbar (20.1 psi) woooohooooo ; and still need to tweak it !

Ah! Name your lines! Also, if you can, remove 1000 mbar from the results so idle is 0, not 1000 (easier to read)

Looking good, the best graphs are from the 1 block, requested and actual in 3rd gear. Looks solid.

I wouldn't expect much more boost, but adding the timing and keeping an eye on the timing pull is where it gets fun. adding 1.5 deg of timing on my toy is noticable, so if you can get 4 or 6 in safely, should get some mean torque.
