Removing rear light assembly??

No I didn't - where exactly, where the head of the retaining bolt seats to the body?

Yeah, it should be just the one nut to undo where the circle is below. The light assembly than pulls out.

problem solvered... needed to be a bit more forceful

The light needs to be lifted up slightly to get the clips out which are on the outside edge of the light. The 2 square holes in Sean picture.
