    Hi all,

Thinking about upgrading to 17" wheels some time in the future... Wondering if anyone here upgraded to either Exor or R Line from VW after they bought their cars. How much did they dealer charge for these and what rubber did they come with? Also do people generally get 4 wheels or 5? The 16" spare wouldn't work real well with the new wheels would it? And do people generally keep the stock 16" wheels?

    Cheers

The optional 17" wheels from a VW dealer, together with 17" rubber to match will cost you both arms and a leg if you buy from the dealer -- about $900/cnr is the go. Therefore, you are better off seeking out wheel options from various specialist dealers. There is an Oz Racing wheel that is very similar to the R line, plus many other options.

You will need to stick very closely to the original circumference, so there's really no need to get five wheels unless you are a perfectionist!

The R line has been discontinued ... unfortunately (only alternative VW wheel I liked out of their selection).

I think tempe tyres do a replica for $1500 for all four corners, they're meant to be stronger than the originals but i think they may only come in a 18"

we got ours when we bought the car. only wanted 4. didn't see the point in the extra $$ for the 5th when the spare will do its job - just dont put it on the front end. Originally quoted around the $4000 mark but negotiated down to just over $2000. Also stipulated that i wanted the original wheels which i then sold later.

dont know what tyres they put on as i have never looked.
