Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Removing Polo GTI (9N) ECU

    Hey y'all!

Looking to send my ECU over to custom-code for a tune. I have had a good look at the ECU and will have a crack at taking it out over the weekend, but does anybody have any tips?

It looks like I may have remove the airbox filter and/or the windscreen wipers & rain protector cover, to get it...

    thanks

    hey y'all!
figured it out - i did have to remove the windscreen wipers, rain protector cover & airbox filter to get to the ECU, the biggest issue I had was removing the screwless bolts. The dremel didnt work for me (couldnt get enough torque) so I had to make a trip to bunnings to get rounded bolt removers.

    all good though!! nuhn!!!!!!

I'll send you back some bolts to replace the anti-tamper ones. If find some with 10mm heads they should fit.

ah thanks Gavin, but I actually want to get rid of the protective casing. From pictures I've seen it looks like people just ditch em. I was just curious on how they have mounted it without using the protective casing
