I had mine up for sale last year and after 4 weeks on carsales, lots of interest and some lowball offers, I got 2 people competing for it.
Ended up going for $16.5k after initially having it at $20k (which I think was in the redbook resale range at the time). I could've held out for abit more, but had the Golf coming in, so just wanted to get rid of it.
The Polo was 07 and around 45k at the time I think.
I guess it depends on what other people are selling theirs for, but I don't think you will get what you're asking.
Hopefully you get something close.
I agree with noone, not many people will really be interested/care about the mods, so probably best to try and flog them off seperately and not try to include them in your price.

When I was considering trading mine in, the salesman said I could pretty much count on a trade-in in the mid-teens, $14-15K.
That would've been stock, I would've removed my mods and sold them off for a little more cash.
With selling parts, it would prob take you up around $16-17K.
Might be an option.

How long ago was that? I got offered 8k for a trade in as they said they would have to put it back to stock.
I sold mine to a small car yard through a family friends recommendation and got high 14,000s from memory about 6 months ago. Pretty sure the yard successfully sold it for 17.5k. It was a clean little car with 90,000k, stage 1 mods, full service history but nearly expired rego and insurance.
Didn't bother with the private sales route as I thought I'd be lucky to get 15-16k with the Ks on it and just wanted to get in to the Scirocco
I sold mine 4 months ago and it took a little over 6 weeks from memory.
It was 4.5 yrs old, 77,000km, paint work was impeccable and zero blemishes or scratches, no leather/sunroof - however it had all the bells and whistles minus a turbo upgrade/LSD.
I started at 19.5k and ended up selling at 17. I was happy with that considering the age/km/mods etc
I think it will take some time to get 20k for a 4yr old that was 28k brand new.. It can go both ways - keep it at that price, takes a long time to sell and depreciates as time progresses or drop the price somewhat that allows more people in the market to buy the car as they may be able stretch their budget from 15k to 17k..
Daryl, if you look at the lease costs and payout figure vs the tax benefit, it ain't that cheap - you could pay the tax, upgrade the turbo and add an LSD and still be miles ahead. At least have a really good drive of the Golfs (modded if you can find someone willing to let you try theirs).
Ask Adzy on his opinion of a VERY worked up Golf R vs the MkV GTi that he has (or maybe had, by now). He cancelled his Golf R.
