  • Polo GTI Big Turbo Build thread.

    Hey Guys.
Im from cape town, south africa.

here is my polo's build thread

Started out life as a bone stock 1.8 20vT, then loaded a custom code file, made 139kw atw with just the flash and intake.
Turbo then took a **** while on the track and decided to go with the T3/T4 50 trim

    Turbo on manifold

    Self made 63mm Vband downpipe

Then a quik pic of some late night wrenching

then got really motivated on the car

made the huge 600x300 cooler fit with no bumper cutting
rerouted and remade the boost pipe
    hid the BOV
cleaned up and rerouted lines in the engine bay
    fitted a seat lip
    painted the wheels

    onto some pics

    arty sunset shot

    Lip scrapping from lowness

    front on down a road

    popping hoods

    Chilling

    Engine Bay

then for those intrested, very easy PCV system and works like a charm
what i did was heat the tappet cover and pull out the existing breather, then tap it and fit a union fitting
then used the pipes and fittings in the pics.
coming from the block, i cut the existing plastic pipe where it reduces and tapped it and used the same fitting as i did in the tappet cover

then started with the engine bay
    some before shots

    During

Then doing something different with the tappet cover (requires some modding)

Wrinkle black intake mani with same blue as the wheels fuel rail

Got the engine bay 100% complete, will update with some pics shortly.
also got a oil, plugs and brake pad service done by volksie

then drove the car 1950km to cape town through the transkei on some of the worst roads imagineable, then through the karoo to a farm in jansenville, then through to PE and the last stretch to CT. (pretty much down the entire east coast of south africa)

some randoms from on the way (mainly instagram photos)

Still need to get around to fitting it, pretty tough as i dont have a garage in cape town

Welcome to the forum. I am guessing that you have met Anthony on his travels. Weird you are both running Custom-Code as well. Small world!! I see that Will is in Cape Town today until Saturday.

Lol very small world! I'm an Australian in Cape Town, SA for a short holiday but have been communicating with boost'd via VWvortex an American forum about the same car and Custom-Code tune and now you pop up on here.

And btw boost'd, Gavin (h100w) is the moderator I was going to get to help you with your log on issue who also happens to be my tuner and all round nice guy. My head hurts

Seriously nice Polo man. And for all those worried about a bigger turbo on stock rods you can now put your mind at ease!

                    Welcome to Watercooled

                    Anthony.
