Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Turbo inlet pipe!

    hi guys,
wondering what you guys think about this
SEAT IBIZA 1.8T 20V MK4 FR and VW POLO 1.8T SILICONE TURBO INTAKE PIPE AQX AYP | eBay

cheaper than Forge! so not too sure if theres much different, if anyone got this brand, please let me know how u feel!

    thanks!

looks identical to the forge one I've got installed, probably no difference whatsoever - with forge you pay for the name a lot of the time.

I'd say go for it, I've bought a few things from those guys before (braided lines and caliper adapters) they're pretty quick with delivery and great comms. Ask them to give you a price without VAT though, that'll knock another 20% off.

Value Added Tax. The equivalent of our GST.

Its pretty much the GST in Europe. When shipping overseas, it's not applicable.

When I hade my Polo, the TIP freed up the engine abit more at higher RPMs, and added to the turbo spool sound.
The GTI ran out of puff before the redline, but with the TIP, pushed a little harder.

If you buy that TIP off ebay they'll just post it out to you and you will pay tax you don't have to pay, if you ask them to give you a price without VAT (because it's going outside the EU) which at the moment is at 20%. Obviously it doesn't work with private sellers or used goods.

I noticed no difference whatsoever...because I changed it whilst having the tune done and clutch changed apparently it makes a significant difference with a 2.5" downpipe though - that's the next step
