Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Andy's Polo...some developments

So I'm finally doin' what needs doin' to my Polo - I've been very lazy since I bought it.

This week she's getting some paint correction (dealer, and probably me too, swirl marks) and some lovely new (and big) exhaust tips - still twins obviously.

Today I ordered a front lip from VW and it should be here on Wednesday. Then I'm dropping the new lip, stock side skirts and rear valance off at the panel beaters for colour coding (after the "proper" prep. work) - won't be done before chrissie though, but I am reasonably excited!

Oven Baked Enamel Services in Ringwood - they do high end repairs, etc. so it's not cheap (approx. $500), but it will be right.

            New Tips

They're stainless and they had to cut away a bit of the rear valance (close to the muffler) to fit them in - beefs her up a bit, I like it.

Booked the colour coding in today but have to wait till Feb - what's with places closing down over chrissie (very inconvenient )? Picked up the new front lip yesterday too - looks the goods.

                  Wow, really?

It's the one on the red polo on the vw web site.

Alternatively, it appears that someone has had the same brilliant idea as me (modesty?) with that lip and colour-coded stock sides and rear.

Hmmm, it does look that way in the last pic doesn't it. I just ran outside in a panic thinking "I couldn't have missed that could I?", but they're fine - can't explain it (maybe the camera angle?). They're just welded to the stock pipes so they should be exactly the same.

The stock pipes appear to be not straight from certain angles too
