Hi Adam, I was at the assessors today (NRMA in Blacktown). The dude basically told me that most cars valued at less than about $6k were write offs if they had decent damage. If the hail didn't break the paint then they are generally ok to fix. My Mk2 gti was caught in the storm and was unfortunately written off as the hail had cracked the paint . I am booked in to have my vr6 assessed tomorrow and from the damage I explained to him he said they'll repair it. Your Polo should be repairable if it has a decent insurance value.
