Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Polo 9N3 Rear Tail Light Removal.
There are 3 points at which the tail light is connected to the car.

Green is the threaded shaft and the orange is the 2 fixing posts
This is a 5 minute task needing no tools.
The first step is to disconnect the wire loom to the light.

The second step is to un screw the locking nut which is connected to the chassis via a grey plastic link.

Then it’s a matter of carefully lifting up and outwards on the tail light fitting.

Then you should be able to remove the unit.

Thanks again for the tips. If there is one thing that the earlier model is very much worse in, it is the tail lights. It is one mod I hope to make to ours.

                      Found the catalogue http://www.hella.com/produktion/Hell..._Part2_GBu.pdf

Spoke to two Hella agents and they said that these are only accessable from VW

Well I have had no luck. I think I will just get the OEM tail lights smoked - anyone know who does this in Brisbane, I'm not confident attempting this myself!

Thanks mate! This is the link for the black ones http://cgi.ebay.de/Hella-Rueckleucht...QQcmdZViewItem

I think I might go the option if it works out to a fair bit cheaper...
