  • strange noise when revving down to idle

i am just wondering if anyone has encountered this issue??

when the car is revving down back to idle, at around 950rpm, there's this
rattling noise, which is audible when windows are down, please see video link below

what could this be?? something loose or just resonance of some parts at a certain frequency?

it seems to be coming from the engine bay close to the firewall on the driver's side... (not 100% certain of the location)

Could not hear too much really.

When something happens at a particular speed, it is a resonance issue. Something is touching something and when it resonates, the touching becomes more severe.

You need to check for clearances and tightness on various connections. Look for things that might have become unclipped. Check for points of contact where you can see a difference in the surface.

I had a buzz that would occur at around 1500 rpm on my Hiace. Turned out that the clamp on the silencer inlet had loosened just enough to rotate slightly and this would vibrate and touch the chassis rail. I crawled under the van, but could not see anything wrong. It took the tealer a while to find this out and the van had to be on the hoist with someone working the accelerator and another under the van checking things.

Good luck, check the headlight bolts and radiator mounts.
