Polo GTI is a girls car!!!!

Time to dig this up.

Yesterday I pulled into the local clubs car park to head inside for my weekly poker fix. One of the other regulars a 'V8 Bogan' asked if that was my VW, I replied yes expecting a sly comment. He said it sounded nice and asked about the motor/power etc. I was shocked thinking he was taking the piss but he wasn't.

Can't judge a book by its cover I guess...

And back on topic, I think VW hatches in general are considered "A girl's car", I've only recieved this once which is much against the usual positive response to my car.

Mate, have you been in a GTi/R32? Maybe you should take one for a drive and then talk about these cars.

Why respond at all, we know the Pog puches well above it's weight. Sure the Pog is a sleeper with great ability, like Clark Kent who turns into Superboy then Superman, thats our Pog.

I had never driven a Polo let alone a Polo Gti, before I brought it. I did however have glowing reviews from friends and one who is a professional driver and instructor for the Qld Police Force and test pilot for the major Aussie car makers.

I recall very well a guy on REXNET forum aka The Hulk who was a Polo GTi owner, baiting and challenging WRX owners to beat the Polo.

Yes my Pog embarassed a few WRX's at the Qld Club Dyno Day when it put down a first run on the rollers of 142 katw.

What continually happens to me is when people go "How do you like the Golf?" Or "Sounds like a Golf"!

Yep no offence taken guys.

Just look at the smile on my dial MY wife asked me just this morning while glancing at a Golf GTi 'Which VW would you like the Polo or the Golf?' Answer the Polo, the car we are driving!'

Underated and understated well yes, yet so capable.

I smoked a Golf GTI at the lights yesterday on the Princes Highway... Sure I was in the 6R Polo not the 9N but he looked surprised

Don't think he expected it but he'd been launching at the lights since I'd been following him. He launched, I just went harder

Of course he flew by me a few seconds later at about 90kmh in a 70 zone... As much as I like beating loons I'm not gonna lose my licence over it!

I flogged a FG XR6 on springvale rd a few weeks ago, yet another bogan with more hype than horsepower lol, they don't quite get that a small car can cain them when necessary

The day I picked up my polo GTI I left a very red faced young Mk5 golf GTI owner in my mirrors in eltham and believe me he was trying, now I like to do the same to Mk6 GTI owners, have only been surprised once and that's because she had a stage 2 setup on her car
