Lightened flywheel

HI All,

There's been a ot of discussions around clutches and lightend flywheels. I just wanted to know if anybody has put a lightened flywheel in, WITH their standard clutch ?

You cant , it wont work . Where do you find lightweight dual mass flywheels ?

Standard clutch disc and pressure plate wont fit a single-mass flywheel, as the standard flywheel is dual-mass.

I would highly recommend replacing the whlole lot with a single-mass setup.

To add even if you could your clutch plate is unsprung as the dual mass is the cushion here. Seen it done on a 911 when i was at Porsche and the clutch was fitted unsprung with the disc size being the same and OMG what a shunt when you changed gears and let the clutch out, brass button was never in it!!!Needless to say there was an enquiry as to why it got fitted, turned out it was a parts mistake, hmm still got fitted so i question that one, anyway moving along
So as above you cant beat the kits available, you wont save anything trying it a round about way, just isnt worth it

The ECS kits seem popular, I've fitted a few myself. Not sure what the pricing is like, as they were customer-supplied, but they're very user-friendly.

Race car only stuff. I've driven my dads '70 Mach 1 when he first got it, that was bloody hard work. Likewise, my brothers Sports Sedan mini had one too. Combined with a dog box, it's quite an experience! Rewarding when you get 'em right, so very frustrating when you don't.
