  • Best place to buy: Strut top bearings, rear shock mounts?

As the title, ordering my KW's and need to get the strut top assemblies and top rear shock mounts to replace at the same time. Where's the best place to get them? VW? Are there better aftermarket alternatives or should I stick with the OEM parts?

Anything else I should replace while I'm there? (Apart from LCA bushes)

I ordered mine from DBC Performance in the US. Just under $150 express shipped for:
    2x Strut Mounts
    2x Uprated SKF Strut Bearings

From all reports, it's the same as what's on the Golf Mk V.
According to my research, the SKF bearings are a lot better than the OEM ones.

      Cool, any part numbers?

Did you need to put shorter drop links in when you changed to coilovers?
I'm not sure if the KW's move the drop link mounting accordingly...

I didn't need shorter drop links with my KW v1's...

The GTI and ordinary Polo coilies are different part numbers, I understand the drop link mount is slightly different.

Ok, so do NOT get the Golf MkV strut mounts. Just get the bearings. I don't have a part number, but they're super easy to find on the DBC Performance website.

I'd recommend the shorter drop links.

My FK kit came with them, but if you want, I've got a spare pair that I'd bought, not knowing it came with them.

          Yours for $30

Looks like the HD/Sports ones are the way to go.

Hmmm, received this reply from AVS --

Due to problems exporting goods we are not currently able to supply you, and have made a full refund to your card.

Sorry for any inconvenience this delay has caused you.

Sucks a bit.. any other good suppliers?

No brand... Wonder if they'd be made by someone reputable.

                            Found this site:
                            GSF Car Parts

Sam, how long was it before AVS told you that they couldn't ship?

I ordered them at the start of the month and they emailed me a day ago, pretty slack.
Let me know how you go, if yours ship they may have stuffed up my order somehow.

If I can't find a supplier by the time my suspension gets here I'll just order them from VW.
