  • Modification to the fog light grilles to expose the side-mounted intercooler?

Has anyone tried modifying the fog light grilles to expose the side mounted intercooler to incoming air stream? How effective is it?

Currently the SMIC is well stashed away under behind the front bar, don't think it is getting any freestream air... it cannot be that efficient?

Has anyone done it? Any guide/advice? thx!!!

Yep. Pretty common. Just use a hobby knife to cut out between the slats and tidy it up with sandpaper or a dremel. Do the pikey mod as well and cut out a big square from the drivers arch liner in front of the wheel (put some mesh in the cut out to stop debris getting in) so you get good through-flow of air over the smic rather than damming.

it might be worth trying to put a shround on the back of the intercooler to make sure the air flows through the SMIC and then out the hole in the wheel arc. could use thin aluminium and screw it to the wheel arc.
