Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • How to make DV louder?

before I start asking my question, yes, I am a ricer... guilty as charged... :

Now I got APR Stage 1 tune, PD160, K&N drop-in filter and APR R1 DV, the DV dumping sound is definitely a lot noticeable than stock, but still not as loud as some youtube videos of cars with similar mods... it is still very subtle...

how do I make it louder?? without bypassing N249, is there anything I can do to make it "pssssssssssst" more??? Cheers....

how much? and is it the recirculating type (i.e. compatible with Pog's ecu without throwing any codes)?

Open pod in engine bay, very vocal.

As Ben said. With the stock airbox they're all quiet. If you want to make some noise pull the airbox out and put an exposed pod on.

If you want to try, buy an ebay 3" pod, you can attach it straight to the MAF.

Probably not he best design in terms of MAF accuracy or pulling in heat, but you can add elbows, etc after.

I had a HKS SSQV and that thing made a lot of noise. It was a blow off valve and not a recirculating one, and the ECU never threw a code.

I have a Forge recirculating BOV and setting that to 30% vent to atmosphere gives a nice noise...I too however have a pod, so not sure if its that...

Would changing the forge bov to 100% recirculating be essentially the same as the forge DV?

Likely to throw codes, Just not that pleasant if a noise. I prefer the 007 / 008 noise personally, but I'm running stealth.
