Best Axle stand/Jacking point combo?

I feel like a bit of a twat for asking as I've usually found a good spot on my cars in the past, but this one has me stumped, considering I don't want to end up with a jack stand through the floor or my Pog falling off a jack.

I need to find the best point to:
A) Put the jack where it won't foul against the axle stand.
B) Put the axle stand where it's safest and also won't go through the floor.

Jack on the sill, with a big neoprene block on top of the hydraulic jack. Stands under the housing of the lower control arm bush.

Errr... Because I wanted to ensure I jacked at the right point? What I was asking (and still hasn't been answered) is whether it prevents the lip from getting bent.

I've done the job now, but it would be good to know the correct way in future, as I had to just sit the car on two jacks, rather than the proper stands. Didn't instil a lot of confidence into me.

Then, you should look at the owner's manual for the right jacking points.

Also, make sure that you use the wheel chocks, when you're jacking the car and read all the safety precautions (also found in the owne's manual), before you put any part of your body under the car. People get hurt or killed, while doing the emergency repairs at home or on the side of the road while just changing the flat tyre.

Seriously? I read the owners manual. It didn't specify where the JACK STANDS go. Let's just forget I asked.

It does. It also has little arrows on the plastic side skirt that point to the jacking points.

Thanks Blitzen. I hadn't seen any arrows, but I'll have a look. The concern I was raising was over crushing the triple lip where the sill is.

Currently, I use the jack from my wife's car because it's stronger than the stock VW one and has the cutout to allow for the lip, but I'd prefer to use my hydraulic jack without fear of crushing the lip.
