Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Broken fog light :(

Was driving on some country roads out wisemans ferry way, didnt see a small but deep dip in the road and hit it at around 70 or 80. Anyway im trying to work out what happened, but it looks like the front of the car rested flat on the ground, I heard the most aweful scrape sound ever

I think the front grille compressed on impact and poped the foglight, because there was definitely no objects on the the road itself.

Just the 'glass' is cracked badly, thinking I might get it fixed next time I go into the dealer, but it will probably set me back a couple of hundreds? not that confident to fix it myself

    thoughts?

        Personally, I'd leave it.

It's like gutter rash on your wheels or stone chips on your bar and bonnet.

You could constantly fix them but you'll just get them again.

Murphys Law says you'll spend money getting your light fixed and the week after a rock will smash it.

It's depressing, but the reality of owning a car. Wear and tear is inevitable.

I've owned my car for just over 3 weeks and when I was stuck in traffic, a guy on a motorbike swiped my right side mirror. Didn't think much of it, as it popped back in to place, but on closer inspection, he cracked my right clear indicator on my side mirror.
