I've driven one (friend owns one) and it's quite good overall. Though, the stock brakes are poor, rear vision is poor but the gearbox positioning and engine is always highly rated (I expect nothing less from a Honda!)
To answer your question, if its stock for stock, then the FN2R.
If you are talking current Civic type R with the spaceship door handles and spoiler in the rear window, on paper the civic vs 9n GTI results in the civic winning. In real world driving though, without owning a 9n GTI, I would sti say the GTI. There is only so much VTEC revving one can deal with before it gets frustrating. A mate has one and she hates it but has to wait until the company lease expires for changing to a car with something called torque looks fast, sounds fast but like the Focus XR5, isn't really that fast.
lol i always believe that FN2R is a pierce of ****! but other type R are alright, by the way how did u hassle other intergra type R? i'm actually pretty curious~
Gavs, you said "there is only so much VTEC revving one can deal with before it gets frustrating".
What do you mean by that?
With your friend, fair enough regarding the torque, but remember it's how the torque is distributed. And for most Honda's, it's mainly in the upper rev range. Great for track! For the Polo GTI, it's all down low, some mid and then outta puff.
Personally, I really don't know what there is not to love about the styling of this car. Even the Mugen version too:
LOL worse Type R been made tho! if u think about it, have a look at EP3,EK9,FD2,DC5,DC2 any type R u can think of and compare with it LOL
even Top gear dislike this car LOL!
LOL just this kid being really cocky to me about his FN2R saying stuff pointing at me "this kid man thing his little polo can beat my civic type R" LOL!!
