EPC - Brake Light Switch

Hi Guys,
EPC light came on today on my 06 GTI and after searching the web found a few posts on overseas forums about a known problem with the polo Brake Light Switch, on inspection my brake lights are not working.

Any of you had this problem before? I will need to get to the dealer and hope this is the only issue as its a 1/2 hour drive away.

change the light bulb might fix the problem?

Can you hear a little click when you touch the brake pedal? If so, might be a light bulb or two, otherwise it's your switch. Which as you say, is apparently a common problem and dealer will sort it easily.

Thanks for the replies, both bulbs have continuity so they are ok, would the EPC come on just for a blown bulb though?

Reading in the manual the EPC is the new name for the CEL?

When the EPC light comes on for the brake light switch you have NO brake lights. I found out it was the brake switch while trying to use cruise control(it wouldn't engage) with the EPC light on. Then after pulling into my garage I noticed a lack of brake lights....

It's a warranty issue you want to get fixed ASAP before someone hits you.

my break lights still worked even when the epc light was on...my cruise control didnt tho...as soon as the light went off the cruise control started working

Took the car to the dealer today, turns out they are going to keep it for the weekend, it was the brake light switch and my aircon which is never really been that cool has packed it in, it also used to whine like a mofo, they have ordered a new compressor and switch and hope to fit them Monday.
