Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Use the search function, there was a thread about the Forge kit about 9 months ago.

i saw it, but most of them were talking about TDi! so i wasn't sure! and the ebay link they posted were sold off ages ago!
      i found this one
VW Golf, GTi, Jetta, Audi A3 1.8T 5 Speed Trans Forge Short Shifter FMVAG5QS | eBay
but not sure if that would fit to the polo gti or not

This is what you need here on the Forge site...

I've got the dieselgeek 6 speed in my S3 and loving it.

you could contact them to see if their offerings suit the polo also

Yes, it is. I was confirming that it would fit, as it is the same one I have fitted to my Polo GTI.

This was a good mod as was the 42DD bushes. I think the bushes had a few variants.

I didn't find the 42DD bushes made anywhere near as much difference as the Forge short shifter.

If I had to choose, I'd either just get the Forge or go whole hog with the Dieselgeek.

The Forge one is very simple to install if you have a heat gun.

However I did help install one where the fat cylindrical shift pin (the one used on our cars) did not have the thread properly machined on to it.
