Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Polo GTi vs Starlet GT Hot4s test.

Just found this Polo GTI hot4s test with a stalet GT

Its interesting to say the least.
Whats the point of a burn out comp? The poplo looses which would mean its getting better traction!!!!!!
Does not look well done to me.
    But hey in is Hot4s.

Coming from a Toyota background those little starlets are rockets with potential. But this is your typical Hot 4s stuff. rofl

My brother gave me the hot4's dvd with this on it ages ago.
He always keeps a lookout for anything involving VW

It might win the burnout competition. but look at the brake test..

Where in any daily driving or motorsport is doing a better burnout going to aid you? Useless as tits on a bull.

yes as someone rightly put it a burnout is about as useful as tits on a bull, couldnt have said it better myself.

I guess, but would that make that much of a difference to the result?

Bit stupid eh - Nothing scientific about their 'review methods' at all, but I figure it was soley for entertainment value...

$10 says that starlet wasn't standard either.

The whole test is appropriate for your average Hot 4 reader. That is moronic.

I'm surprised they didnt also include a test where the car that can fit the most stickers down the side wins.

Ummm you would get more heat into a road tyre by braking heavily than doing a burn out.

its pointless doing burnouts with street tyres as majority of them get worse with heat! . . . either way this test was purely for entertainment value!, they'
re measuring with steps! HAHA . . .

I will add one thing. The pogo's handbreaky was quite dissapointing.

As for what value the clip actually had - it was about as usefull as a write up on paris hilton in your saop scubs magazine.

I only had 6 minutes of my life stolen from me - nothing life changing.

Yeah the travel in the handbrake is very long, hard to get used to and more work when on a skid pan.
