On the left you can see the stock intake with the stock intake trumpet attached, one on the left is the PD160 intake with the trumpet attached. It is a two piece kit, and as a whole, it takes about 15min to attach, and the only tool you need is the double ended screw driver that comes as part of the tool kit in the boot of your car.Last edited by Blitzen; 07-03-2012, 04:36 PM."If can't get behind your troops, feel free to stand in front of them..."

It's just an air pod filter bolted on to a metal plate so it fits in your standard air box. You could probably find an air filter with the right dimensions and do the fabrication yourself.
As Blitzen mention, the PD160 does come in two pieces, the air pipe and the trumpet which takes about 15 minutes to install if that.Current:

The change isn't night and day, but I can feel the car just breaths better and feels slightly smoother. When I pulled the stock filter out I was suprised as how compacted it was. Obviously this is a good thing in order to get clean air into the engine but I think a little bit restrictive. I might not get a lot of performance but I know it's doing good for the engine.Current:

i installed the pd160 and cleaned out my k&n filter. and there is a nice difference in airflow to the motor now, is certainly feels like it breaths better and has a crisp rev in the higher range. Keep in mind that i still have a stock ECU and exhaust.
one more thing, i was looking at the piece that the pd160 clicks in to (the one that screws into the car) - and i thought it too looked a bit restrictive, so i cut out the plastic bit and now the opening has more area/cm2 than the pd160 intake trumpet. without cutting that plastic flap, it would have been about 1/2 the area.
next on the list is a downpipe (using the factory cat and exhaust)....improve the breathing in the motor, should also improve the breathing out06 Polo GTI
