  • Dyno'ed KW and info at the wheels

    Hi All,

I have tried to seach a thread that shos different cars and their associated KW at the wheels , modifications and other performance data.
There does not seem to be one, so how bout we start one for us Polo guy and girls.
before I enter my data, just woul ike to check that a similar thread does not exist.

    We could enter like so:

    100kwat wheel/ mods= exhaust, apr stage I, k&n / 0-100 in 7.5 s / Quater mile in 14s

It would be great to have this all informaton together for all to see.

clicht i like the idea however with these topics especially the ones on dyno's it is a real easy way to start a chip war etc. If you are after qtr mile times there is a section with timeslips and mods in the motorsport section.

If you go searching there was a 9n polo dyno day a couple of years ago which had this kind of information for a number of cars.

from memory I had 138kw. never done a 1/4 mile or 0-100 properly, but I'd say its a sub 7 sec, 12 point something second car.

If I found out it was slower, I'd cry.

noone, 138kw , thats very good. Given that a golf with approx 116kw does about 7s to 100, i would guess your is about 6.5, if not quicker. What mods have you done.

            12 point something ?

Do you kow how fast a 12 second car is. I would guess it would be 14 something

I didn't get enough sarcasm in there did i...

maybe I should have said 10 flat and sub 5 sec...

I wouldn't have a clue and I know that I could drive my Polo harder if I didn't want to keep it for a while longer.

                Haha ok

My car has a Frankenstein turbo and is sooper dooper quick, quicker than your 12 second car

No seriously, last time i had a Dyno, usual mods, intercooler, flash, exhaust etc 142.3KW at the wheels, which seems to be in the ballpark of what most people make.

With the different turbo, I dont know. I will let you know when i have it sorted

I'm not quite sure if this is the day you're referring to but pinched this info from Guys post regarding the difference in intercoolers. The first chart shows 3 polo's plus the post

The dyno plots are three different cars, but the ones to look at are the blue & the red lines.

These are two K04 APR cars, both running downpipes (one with a catback), both running standard airboxes & the exact same software.

The big difference is one runs the APR intercooler (BLUE) It could make 24PSI & hold a good boost curve.

The Red line has the Forge intercooler & could only make 22psi, but the curve dropped off hard as you can see.

The green line is a well worked K03 car that goes well.
                    That's me

Then on the same Dyno and after I changed the DV spring to a better matched rating and had the Enkie's on I recorded a jump in 13.2 HP and saw a jump from 19.2 psi to 22 peak. Plus it was slightly hotter on this run.

Was very happy to have a Ko3 out performing Ko4's. No 1/4 mile yet but as soon as it cools down a bit will have a crack. Plus with the new zorst on I managed a 6.18s 0-100 time yesterday. Really wanting to break the 6 barrier

Also now with the induction and exhuast sorted plus a couple of other things, hoping the next trip to the dyno will get above 200hp. Fingers crossed!

@VWThunder, 142 is very good...i was told that ith a k04 you could push up to 160kwatw, which is a masssive amount of power for a 1165kg car..you would easily push 1-100 under 6s.
@vwindahuse, this is great to see some actual dynocharts...thanks; but how can a car with a k04 push out 177hp atw..am I missing something, it should breach the 200hp barrier. With jut a simple chip, you can hit 160hp...

That's the trouble with comparing different Dyno's I guess.

This particular dyno has always run lower than others from what I've seen around the country. Dyno's are only really good for dyno days such as the example given to show a fair comparison between cars and also for showing incremental power improvements from more modifications. And for tuning obviously.

I think the 1/4 mile and 0-100 times are more of a fair comparison.

Personally, I hate dyno's. I hate dyno runs. I think it's pointless unless it's for tuning or personal interest in modification stages of your car not for comparing with Person A & Person B.

Yes, I'm ranting, but at the end of the day, if I have 129atw and you have 145atw, and I beat you at the quarter mile, well I get the win, and you can still have your numbers. I think this post is directed towards 'dyno queens'.

                          ****, I'm still ranting

                          /rant.

hahahaha Anthony! Technically, my Mk6 GTI is quicker as it does 5.5 sec with the Stage 1 APR Tune.

So I am going to attribute you passing me at Lakeside down the straight as either

                              1. I was the only one to stick to the speed limit
                              2. You weigh a lot less than me (problem when I work in finance in a office and get fat quickly), plus I had an additional passgenger to ferry around!
