Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Engine mounts?

So I've already had two engine mounts replaced under warranty, and I'm fairly certain I've just busted another after some spirited dirt road driving.

Does anyone have an updated set they can recommend?

Eddy, did you get them from Vibra Techincs direct, or from somewhere else?

Well, I ended up getting mine from VW Audi Seat Skoda Specialists | Parts Service Modifications as the Australian distributor didn't reply to my email for over a week.

Fitted them up last night, and all is running well. Turns out my L/H (gearbox) mount wasn't even broken. $600 well spent...

Bit more noise, bit more vibration etc as you'd expect.

Did you get a set of all three? I'm keen, it's a lot of money but I am concerned my gearbox mount is already busted. I know the torque arm is new and the engine side is new as well, so maybe it's not worth the outlay.

I got the two - Engine RHS and Gearbox LHS. I've already got a SuperPro (road) poly bush in the torque arm.

Just reviving an old thread rather than starting a new one.
I am looking at upgrading the engine mounts when I mount the larger turbo.

The links in the previous posts are dead.
I am guessing the links below are the same items:
Left Hand Side Gearbox Mount Including Dsg - Vibra-Technics Compliance Technology
Rhs Engine Mount - Vibra-Technics Compliance Technology

Are these the only choice as an upgraded engine mount for the polo's?

For the people with these installed, how is the increased vibration for normal street driving?
                    Cheers, Greg.

Increase is certainly noticeable. Summer hot idle, a/c on... Not real pretty. It can actually be a little embarrassing taking people for a drive.

In saying that, it makes EVERYTHING more direct. Obviously.

                        Ahem...

                        Boots of +5 thread revive...

Just wondering how you guys are getting on with these mounts? I was convinced the top drivers side engine mount in the GTI was wrecked; there was a good 3/8in movement at the mount rocking the car in 1st gear, which scared the piss out of me. I hear nothing testing the mount by throttle on-off driving suggests it's fine. In fact, holding the gear stick at the same time I can't detect any movement either... so:

Is the movement in the mount excessive?

Have the Vibratechnics mounts been trouble/expensive/uncomfortable?

Have the advertised benefits of tighter engine support translated into a tangible difference/improvement in driving experience?

I'm leaning towards a preventative swap regardless, but would like to hear the forums thoughts...

                        Pete

                          Still vibrates like ***** haha!!

My car is a long way from comfort-cruiser, so I don't really care anymore. I still daily drive it, and it's great, but I love the point-and-shoot of it all. The mounts made EVERYTHING more direct. Clutch is bitey, steering direct, bumps are... well... Bumpy, verging on harsh. I also have solid poly mounts on all suspension and lower 'dogbone' too.

If there is a hint of a Vibratechnics group buy, consider me in. I had to replace a couple of engine mounts on my 2003 polo and I would like to do to pog ones before they go.
