Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Cup holder solution

Hey guys, haven't posted here in a long time but I've managed to diagnose and solve a common fault on our polo's - the jamming retractable cup holder... mine was broken for over a year before i bothered trying to fix it.

The metal pin in the above pic bends and gets pushed upwards... which leaves nothing to click into the latch at the bottom end of the mechanism. i used some needle nose pliers to straighten the pin and pull it downwards towards the latch.... and it works again.

this is a common fault on the polos so i just though i'd share it... especially if you're out of warranty.

I'm new here, and my polo cup holder is jammed shut, does anyone know how to get it open without destroying it so I can see if the pin is the problem
        regards

white button at the end of the slider mechanism may allow it to release, go back in.

POS, I've broken mine a few times.

Yes, but on the plus side it can fit a 600ml choc milk in it which most cup holders can't do
