im considering selling my mk5 tdi as its due for its 2nd timing belt soon, so i figured 10k selling car, + saving 1.5k thats 11.5k,

i can find a lower k polo gti for around 13-15k, ( and I'm good at negotiating on prices) so id only be borrowing a little, and getting a slightly newer, but lower k car with tuning potential..

i could get my 18's redrilled to fit the pogo, get some fk's, revo tune as i get a good price on them, (600 cash) and id be in a swish little car.

should i keep the golf ( tdi economy, more bells and whistles) or get something a bit funner, or just wait and get a golf gti?

Only you can answer that one and it's been discussed many-a-times from people on either side of the fence. If size isn't of any relevance, but fun is, than the polo (with those mods) will give many smiles all day long. With those mods it'll go very well and will haul from corner to corner just as well as a golf with comparable set-up, though is more chuckable so likely to find yourself chuckling as you do it. For that price, expect a few miles on the thing or an early model (no real cause for concern on either) and the odd rattle. After all, it's still based on a polo.

need to test drive. the narower wheel base and reduced weight can make the polo rough, so as long as you are not expecting a luxury ride...

        ?

might be worth just keeping the golf,
        comfort is always nice

10K for a golf with 200,000 and require timing belt is way too much in my opinion
