Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • MAF & plug upgrade for MY K04

I've been doing a bit of searching and found out I should be upgrading the MAF to a 3inch one, but I can't find out which (part number etc) also if I should be running better plugs?
I have a few jobs to do to the car so I figured I'd get every thing done at the same time. eg FMIC, bigger injectors, wideband sensor gauge.

    Any ideas would be great

I have the APR K04 tune at the moment but will obviously need a custom tune once all the work is done as the injectors are now 440cc

440 is too big for a KO4. Unless your going to run a gt28rs Id use 380cc@3bar or 340cc@4bar

True, but you don't have to run the the injectors at their full duty cycle. The tune will take care of that Pommie, how did you go with Gavin btw?

            Dude what are you doing,

Work out want you want with the car before you do anything. Your happy with the K04, well if you decide to go to a different tuner, well, you need to use what they specify.

Are they the Genuine Bosch 440cc (green giants)

If you're already running a K04 wit APR tune, are you going to get much more out of it from another tune, with MAF, injectors, etc? Could easily be $2000, what sort of power returns are you expecting?

I think he only paid about $1000 for the turbo, intercooler and injectors lol

really just need the help with the MAF upgrade and best plugs, I'm not too concerned with my injector choice as 440cc are used in turbo Hayabusa's all the time and they are only 1300cc so a 1800cc car should handle them OK when tuned right... my car runs OK even on the APR KO4 tune with the 440's so a fine tune would finish it off great - I reckon.

Why are you not happy with it?
