  • Removing Polo struts

I've done plenty of searches, and found plenty of MKIV info which I believe is fairly similar, but nothing specific to the Polo.

I've bought an M14 spline tool to remove the lower bolt, and I know that I need to use a tool to spread the knuckle to remove the strut, but what I want to know is, do I need to lower the subframe or remove the axle and knuckle like you do on a MKIV, or does the polo have enough room to remove the strut as is?

Any pointers would be much appreciated

You don't need to remove the sub frame, but you will need a set of spring compressors. One thing I did notice is that once you have the SEAT bushes fitted, it restricts the space you have to play around in as the lower suspension is that much stiffer (as you would expect).

      Thanks mate
I've got spring compressors so I can remove the springs, do I need to compress them while in the car in order to get the struts out?

Yeah, you will need to compress them to get them out.

Thanks for that mate, I thought that may be the case.
