Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

If you buy the import magazines you can see the cars done by the Japanese companies, or the high quality time attack builds etc. There are plenty of nice tasteful GTR's getting around without being on the rice bandwagon. How GTR and rice ends up in the same sentence I have no idea. Unless there are some with 20" chrome, airbags and candy purple paint?

    Back OT,

1.8T is a competent motor, the motor in S3/MkIV GTI guise an get some massive numbers but the limiting factor is it's all stuck in the pog. The R32 can handle the big grunt if you want, you can take the heaviness out of the car and you can own a nice car (that will cost you when it breaks).

Yes i'm biased but I think it makes sense to get on of these instead of a pog. Funnily enough Im considering GTR's next, but who knows what the future holds...

PS anyone round Newcastle with a chipped Pogo?

He has but only on occasion when some R32 oddities have left him wondering plus the heaviness of the car.

The stupid bolt pattern is even worse with a Polo since no one makes decent 15" wheels in 5/100 - they almost all 4/100 or 4/114.3

Quality wise, definitely but in terms of size, the cars are suprisingly close.

4x114.3 is rare enough as well, been looking for a CD5 accord, hopeless!

OZ superturismos would come in 5x100 15" maybe?

Technically it's my partner's car, but I pushed pretty hard to make her buy it.. :p My driving is done probably 60:40 Polo:Clio.

The Clio is so so so awesome, but in a totally different way to the Polo.

Too heavy - if I'm going to spend up, then I want really light wheels like the Enkei RPF1 or Oz Racing Ultraleggeras (to try and buy back some of the deficit vs the R32 ) But both of them only start at 16" for 5/100
