  • Rear seat removal, help!

    Hi guys,

I'm trying to take out my rear seats at the moment but running into a little bit of trouble...the process is easy enough, simply lift up the bottom portion of the seat and unclip to remove. Next all you need to do is unhook the rear upright section from the hinge on the side and lever it off the middle attatchment.

However, I can't seem to take out the driver's side portion of the passenger seat (the larger half of the rear seats). There doesn't seem to be enough room to lever out the rear upright section off of the middle bar?

Does anyone who has removed their rear seats have any tips???

Update: Managed to get it out, needed some extra elbow grease...!

Rear seat + spare tools/tyre is about 50kg, pretty big weight loss there on an already light car

Mods can delete this thread if you want..

Interesting. Are you planning to run without the rear seats and spare tyre on a daily basis, or just for the track?
Do you notice more exhaust/road noise?

You notice more road and exhaust noise when it's stripped - I do it for track days too.

The real trick in removing the driver side rear backrest is to make sure it is FULLY flat before trying to pivot it out forwards. Many thanks to Daniel (Lucky13) for showing this to me when I was struggling with it up at Winton.

Even with the rear passenger seats folded down, you can notice the extra exhaust sound. It's quite nice if you want the "extra" sound.

Funny , I put extra sound deadening in the wheel well area...
