Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi Guys,

I know I'm not one of you yet (therefore I maybe shouldn't be posting yet) but I'm really close to purchasing a Polo Gti 06-09 model and need your help..

I rang the guy selling this car and he's trying to tell me its supercharged and turbocharged?! unless he's done some crazy mod they didn't test the new engine in this body did they?

p.s I know the car is bloody overpriced

    cheers fellas

The latest model is but not ours (9N3).
We've got the bigger displacement and turbo whereas the new shape (6R) is a 1.4 twin charge (supercharger down low and turbo higher in the range once the boost has spooled.

I have a 2010, that guys delusional prob from smoking crack.

The price he's asking is about what i paid for my car with 1000k's on it from the dealer about a year ago, would love to still get that for it as i have 15.5k on the clock, but i recon its still worth about 20500 at least

            welcome, mate!

depends what you're after, really - are you a "good petrolhead" who likes things that are "devastatingly divine"? hahahaha.

yeah, i'd bargain him down a bit. yes, it's a fine example, but with 16,000k's on the clock it should have depreciated more. a fair bit more, i'd say.

i mean, $5k more and you get a NEW polo gti with ZERO km's on the clock (let's not get into wait times and optional add ons etc etc).

good luck, keep us posted on how it goes.

thanks for the replies fellas, I wrote this guy a email telling him that I queried some PROFESSIONALS (you guys) about his car and that the following information he has supplied is false and I got a barely legible response.. I might steer clear of this bloke & his polo I think he's crazy ha ha.

I'm bursting at the seams to jump behind the wheel of my new (2nd hand) polo, every damn listed car in VIC atm is either in poor condition or the owners are expecting too much. I would love leather... not sure if it's neccessary, sure does look nice in the cabin though.

Kudos to the forums you guys run here, I've spent days and nights scrolling though all 100+ pages learning everything I need to know!

A plane ride to Brisbane and buy Shaneth's GTI is in order IMO. Saving 6k.

Best bit is where he quotes the '0 to 80 on vic roads in 5.9 seconds'.

Edit: Ok spoke too soon didnt read the rest, hahah.

If I didn't have a job I'd go have a look. If it's the white one posted on carsales.com.au it looks a beaut.

Maybe if I wire transfer the money and Shane can push it onto the freeway with cruise control on it will save me some time?

I'll drive it down, you fly me home

(just joking, I'm time poor as buggery at the moment too) I have had a drive of this car about 12months ago, very well maintained and presented car.
