  • 2004 POLO: Wheel choice, need your help!

    Hey guys,

I own a 2004 VW Match Polo and I'm looking to get these damn wheels off it as soon as I can. They were put on by my brother in grade 11 back in 2005/2006. I'm wanting to get some 14's or 15's, something Japanese. I was thinking Work 01's, Longchamps or something along those lines. However, in saying this I'm a little confused with the way these hubs work. I believe this model VW is a PCD of 5x100 but they don't have studs, only bolts so will normal 5x100 wheels fit?

    Here it is:

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Studs and bolts work the same for wheels. You can likely keep the bolts you have now. Find the right pcd and a good offset. For 7.5 wide wheels, an offset around 32 is ideal. Small wheels with that offset and pcd may not be readily available.

Rota make some good priced wheels. Not as light as some but a good range and mad Japanese style...

Casey... Is this the Casey of shirtstuckedin fame?

Plenty of cool wheels to be found, just gotta take your time, they do pop up now and again.

Some adapters fitted up to a set of deep dish Hayashi Streets I say!

            hey casey how are things?

yes, the wheels are 5x100 but you should also be mindful of not only the offset (i think 30-48 is the range for the 9n / 9n3 polo) but also the center bore - the vw's have a center bore of 57.1mm. keep this in mind when looking for wheels as there are plenty of tasty subaru wheels out there, but their center bore is smaller IIRC, and you wouldnt want to compromise a wheel by expanding its centerbore.

also, when getting wheels (this is obvious) make sure you're getting the right bolts for the wheels e.g. conical seat vs ball seat.

            good luck!

                Centrebore, schmetnerbore.

Your local wheel shop will soon sort that out. Extensive's here are doing my OZs for $100.

I think I'm going to go with 5x100 14x7 +10 Diamond Racing wheels!

Will they fit (offset wise)? Will do a test fit this afternoon with my friends 14x7 0 TE37s, will just sit them up against the hub and see how far they sit out!
