  • My Red Mist GTI

After searching for a few months i have finally found a Polo GTI.

Its a 2008model, Red, has 51k km, sunroof one owner and full service history.

I found it slightly worrying that the 4 polo GTI's I went to see were all owned by female owners....which got me thinking is it a girls car? After 3 days of driving I have decided that no it isnt

The car needs a bit of tinkering the previous owner butchered one of the wheels so I had it swapped out with the spare. also I'm going to service it as its been 10k kms since last service.

Plans for the car are to keep it for about 3 years.

I have already fitted an K&N filter, and the PD160 intake is on its way from the UK, so are the H&R Springs...

Further down the track will be a media player/navigation system of some sort. A tune and FMIC and a Rear Sway Bar..... but for now I just want to enjoy it.

    See you on the forums.

    Cheers
    John

That's not a bad thing hey. In standard form they are still fun and safe, though add some mods and they become a great little hot hatch.

Of course it is - just look at the lines
The nice thing is that a lot of these are now coming off lease with low mileage, full service, careful driving and no mods.

Passenger front? It looks kerbed big time.

Try and get dampers to match the springs - it is far more benefical than a rear anti-roll bar

I'll try to make it sounds like a good day out.

Just took it down to Campbelltown for a blast its such a fun drive.....i find its not the power that impresses as there isnt that much of it (yet) but the torque is amazing you really feel it going up hills, pulls very well.

Picked it up for $15k which I thought was reasonable, there are cheaper ones out there but I didn't want a repairable write off and I wanted a sunroof.

Thought I would update my progress.

I order things ages ago and they have finally started arriving

First was the SEAT intake, cant believe how much bigger it is....Also very easy to install

dont think there is any actual difference in performance, but more air into an engine is always good

next I ordered an EONON G2216 gps unit. it was cheap....and so it feels cheap and looks cheap and came with the most pathetic mounting hardware ever invented!!! I am probably going to send it back and get something else. Maybe the D5101 as posted in a different thread. Fits MUCH better and comes with a proper mounting bracket..this one even if mounted properly would still have a gap all the way around....

                            the gap

the mounting hardware!!! 2 L shape brackets and 4 screws, thats it.

and since it has a detachable screen the whole thing doesnt sit flush and looks really out of place....

will keep you guys posted as to what happens with this.

lastly I got a package from Orange tunning...

35mm lowered H&R springs all for $215 landed! (thank you awesome exchange rate)

I installed them last night with a mate and the fronts are a prick of a job.....rears took literally 5 minutes

                            end result

I cant believe that the ride is pretty much the same as before. very happy!

                            and thats it for now....

                            cheers
