Swaybar Updates

Have read through some of the older posts about swaybar upgrades. Some people think only the rear is required, some front and rear.

Given there was a group buy, there should be quite a few out there now. I'd be interested to hear feedback from those who have them (front and/or rear).

Mine is road use only - not that concerned about ride quality issues - I'm looking for more of a gocart feel without going to the expense of new shocks/springs.

P.S - now just over 3,000kms in just under 3 weeks

I just put the rear one one a few weeks ago ... love the change. It's currently set at the middle position and, chasing Spec83 up Nebo ... um ... let me rephrase ... having a spirited drive up Mt Nebo ... tail end stuck like glue whereas Spec83's Pogo was getting some serious rear squirm & jiggle on. Loads of fun highly recommend at least putting the rear on.

My therory is a car should be balanced.

The rear of the polo has no sway bar at all to start with.
By putting one on it helps the turn in and body roll to a point. Its not just a rear sway bar but the adjustable version is an uprate one.
To counter this a thicker by 2mm front gives you the abilty to tighten the hole body not just the rear keeping the car at a balance and giving the driver a more positive feed back.
A front may also be needed if dropping the car any more than 40mm due to the steering arms hitting the standered sway bar like the mk4 Golf suffers.

I find my polo is great at the mo i can push the car into a corner with easy and on the exit its really easy to feel all the time what the car is doing.

My polo is entered this weekend in a hill climb last year everything standered apart from an Apr tune it did a 49.18

This year all suspension wise i have done is front and rear sway bars, will be good to see if there has been an improvement with the same power.

I think you'll find the adjustable Whiteline will give you just what you're after

swaybar updates

I have whiteline front and rear adjustable swaybars,

As forementioned the rear sway bar makes quite a positive difference. Helps to keep it flatter through corners.

I then added front sway bar when i got the car lowered. So i cant really tell you how much of a difference the front bar made because i got Eibach pro kit in at the same time. But overall now, its loads more fun to drive and ride quality has not suffered too much.

Thanks guys - as I understand it, the whiteline front is the same thickness as standard, the only diff being the whiteline is adjustable?

Has anyone with standard suspension, changed the front with the whiteline? Did it make any difference?

i would really like to get Whiteline rear sway bar adjustable, but I am from new Zealand. Do you know what is the best way to bring one to NZ??

I am keen on rear at this stage, as front I heard is a bit more difficult to install.

any hint or help would be highly appreciated...

and how much do they go for these days without group buy? i missed it as i just got the car at the end of July...

Yes they helped alot on the hill climb this year did a 44.51 last year was a 49.18 but the course was slightly diferent.

Frout Swaybar,

I am buying swaybars in couple of weeks, i will be installing the rear one myself, but the frout i will be getting installed by a performance shop and underwood... cuz so they know what they are doing but it cost 100bucks an hour, how long does it take anyone know?

About an hour or a little bit over to have the front sway bar fitted.

Also, it is probably advisable to have a wheel alignment done afterwards.
