Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 9N POLO MY08 1.9 TDI - AIR BLOWER NOT WORKING IN POSITIONS 1 - 3 only works in 4.

    Guys

My polo air blower seems to be on the blink, it only works in position four. The aircon comes on only when the fan switch is in position four only.

what could be the problem?? fuses/blower unit or something simpler.

the car has just done 60000kms and warranty expired 09/12/2010.

Im worried i will get ripped of by the dealer if i go back for the 60k service with them.

any suggestions on a good vw diesel specialist.

    thanks

    Jithen

I think I've read it's to do with the fuse, or a resistor in the AC blower itself?

would be the resister in the fan. Position 4 doesnt pass through the resistor circuit

Could be a rheostat problem in the selector switch...

It will be the fan speed control resistor that is located in the HVAC plenum just after the blower... Disassemble the glovebox and it is just behind there with 3 x wires hanging out. Part is about $90 from memory, Stealer will try to sting you at least $250-300 so just do it yourself.

I did a DIY replacement guide at one time - HERE it is
