  • Ipod into Polo. Give it to me straight.

OK, so I wanna get the trusty Ipod into my Polo. It's a 2007 GTI. Standard boring headunit.

Without reading 59 pages of the various other threads, what do I need to make this happen?

    Cheers.

If you don't want to upgrade the head unit, then your only option is to use an FM transmitter of some sort (and injector will give the best quality)

Stuwey if you are running the factory head unit I am pretty sure you just need this cable.

Was there not a cable plug in?

If you are happy to use the headphone jack, the Connects2 device and a RCA to Minijack cable does the job for <$50. Works for me...

How would you rate the sound quality? Similar to radio? Better than radio but not CD?

I'm currently using a Belkin FM transmitter. It's generally pretty good, particular when on the open road, but in the polo it's quite temperamental depending on where the ipod is sitting. In rental commodores and camry's it's been perfect wherever it fell. Seems to work best when sitting on the passenger seat, so not ideal when you have a passenger. I'm also running the stubby antenna, so that may be contributing... I haven't tried the factory antenna.

Doesn't work with the RCD-200 headunit that was fitted to 9N3 Polos - only RCD-310/510, RNS-510 in 6R Polos

But I was wrong in my 1st post - you can use one of these

I've got the standard aerial, and have also noticed that it works less than half the time at less than average quality.

Hence why I want to plug it in properly.

                          Go to this site...

                          Pay the price plus postage...

Install takes about 10min... It comes with the removal tools.

Enjoy... I have had the Xcarlink iPod adaptor in for 2 years. It plugs into your cd changer plug at the back of the cd player. You only have to use the stereo controls once installed and connected. Play lists can be acceded by the number buttons on the face of the sterio.

Isn't that the one for the 9N radio?
The one that I linked to specifically states that it supports the RCD-200 unit which is what the 9N3 Polos have.
