yes... everything to do with wheel offset.... from the look of those wheels the mounting face is really pushed out to the front of the wheel...; so when you mount it most of the wheel will actually sit under the car and possibly interfere with the struts. so if you use a spacer (which i believe are illegal in most states) this pushes the wheel out further and clears the struts.1974 1300 Beetle, 1997 Golf GL, 2003 New Beetle Cabrio, 2014 Audi A4 quattro

hey guys i used to be involved with wheels alot bak home in terms of customising and doing one of things 18`s on a polo do work but offset must be 38 and 7.5jj if not you will need a rather thin alumin spacer as long as the inside just clears the shock you wont really have a problem
