  • 60,000KM Service

    Hey Guys and Gals,

Just wondering if anyone has payed for a 60,000 km service outside of their warranty? What sort of costs am i looking at if i take it to a VW dealership?

    Cheers

They'll quote you anywhere from $650-$950.

If your in Thirroul, you might wish to make a short trek to Campbelltown & try Camden GTI. You'll save a couple of hundred & the car will be worked on by a real mechanic rather than an apprentice.

I believe that you could find it in the owner's manual.

Thanks, I have recently flushed out the cooling system and brake fluid, new air filter, spark plugs etc. I change my oil every 7500km too. I dont believe in paying someone to do it again

Then you should only need: Fuel filter and Pollen filter
really easy to do, especially if you've done everything else

As transporter said, probably best to check your manual as there are subtle differences between diesels/petrol/auto/manual/turbo, etc.

My 60k was oil, oil filter, fuel filter, pollen filter.

Cooling system flush isn't even on the radar yet.
Brake Fluid is time rather than kilometre based.
Most VW group cars get their sparklers done at 60k but mine isn't due until 90k.
IIRC the air filter is something silly like 90k but I had mine done at 45k.

Read the book & work out what sits well with you. Some of the time frames are a bit long for my liking (eg air filter)

Thanks for the advice guys, would love to be mechanically minded, but alas i need to leave it to the professionals. I will check out Camden GTI as well as my Local VW dealership.

                Cheers

Quick question, guys, when you change the pollen filter, does the airflow go from left>right, or right>left? (There's an arrow on the filter, so I guess it's important.)

I think I paid about $350 for my 60k service... I supplied the oil filter and brake fluid though.

60k is plugs ( longlife) or if you are tuned then you will fit colder ones more regular, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter , oil filter, sump plug and oil. Brake fluid is every 24mnths unless running stuff like GS610 Martini then its 12mnths, so i dont guess as a lot of service history goes of track, cant go wrong by doing a moisture test on the fluid, any more than 2% moisture change it.
If you have went 5 yrs and you are 60 then its a cam belt too. Not throwing a spanner in the works but dont forget the cam belt is every 5 yrs on the BJX or 105kss

fuel filter is easy to do, its on the drivers side near the rear wheel. i forget how much i paid for mine, but i got a hengst brand from a local vw supplier (not dealer).
