Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • oil pan cracked!

last night, on a dimly lit road, went through a big, deep pot hole and after jacking up, the oil pan is cracked and leaking engine oil no other damages detected, driving and drive train characteristic seem normal, no funny noises.

i've been searching on the web and this came up for 1.8t oil pan.

VW Polo 1 8 Oil Pan Sump With Oil Level Sensor Bore

i'm pretty sure ours come with an oil level sensor on the oil pan.

the OEM VW p/n is 038-103-603-M.

is this the right one for the pog?

    cheers

where the crack is. it's a vertical crack originating from the drain plug hole.

this should be the oil level sensor, no?
