IME, TPMS works, as long as you calibrate it per the manual to begin with.

Gave my pug the Meguiar treatment on Saturday [wash + tech wax... woohoo she's pretty now!!], and realised that the front left was wearing very, very thin compared to the others. Heaps of thread on the rears, and lots of thread on the front right.

As I may switch to another brand later on I'm thinking to put the spare on the front left for the time being and rotate the worn one back to spare - seeing as this is the one I'm killing the most. As they'll be rotating the tyres anyway, I'll just get the guys to do it at my 30k service this Saturday.

This is common for front left to wear quicker than the rest if you have lots of roundabouts on your more common driving routes. Canberra is a bit like this and I just can't help myself.....I have to go quickly around them.

            The polo tyre thread

My fronts are wearing alot faster than the backs

            haha

I must say, over 7 thousand kms of cornering bliss the Dunlop SP sport MAXX have held up very well, nice stiff sidewall, plenty of grip and good wear.

In a few thousand kms ill be replacing them with either RE001 Adrenalin Potenza's or Michelin Pilot Exalto's (as fitted on Clio 182 cup)

Well I thought I had, although it would have been about 3 weeks previously. Anyway took the car for 6 months health check service, asked them to check it which they said they did, including recalibrate and test on reduced pressure on 1 tyre and it apparently did work. So I'll believe it - but I'll test it myself too.

Turns out the spare was flat, previous owner (dealer) didn't let me know about it.... So with the FL being so worn down, I'll buy 2 Goodyear Eagle F1s for the fronts and put the FR in the boot. Still plenty of thread on the rears so hopefully won't be too bad to mix'em up like that, e.g. as long as each axle have the same tyres.

There's a Goodyear store just next to where I live; which one of the following models is the best one? Couldn't quite find any good info, guess I'm not looking in the right places. Thanks.

just be careful not to mix it up with directional and uni-directional tyres. They can make the car handle either very twitchy or very boat like.

So if I do a tyre rotation on my polo, should I only rotate them between front and back? i.e. keep them on the same side since they're directional?

hey shaneth, that "buldge" is that like an "egg" kinda thing? just wondering why that happens and does it affect the tyreS??

Also, this is abit off topic....just did a rotation this arvo, (took almost two hours thanks to the rear wheels didn't want to come off), Pack several disposable gloves in the spare wheel holding, cuz just in case you have to change it on the road, you don't want your hands to be black and got nothing to wipe it off before hoping back into the car n

                          Adam =)

Adam, yes it is an egg shaped buldge on the side wall of the tyre. Hoew it gets there, have a look here. Tyre Buldge/concavity.

I must have hit a pot hole or something.

I was quoted $485 for two wheels (Goodyear F1s) incl. alignment.
However I see that Goodyear have a deal on buy 3 get 1 free until August 18; I may just get all 4 tyres fitted rather than two then.

Mmmm, maybe I should do my Euro as well??? Down 1 spare tyre, stocks have done 22k now.

To answer my own question re models, markings are explained here (thanks Waynos) http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/...e/markings.asp , W means 270kph and 83 = about 480Kgs, means the 4 tyres are fine for up to 1920kg (should be fine for the little Pug) .
