vwthunder, yeah, you want to be careful when using a rotary. I practised using my Makita 9227CB on a spare panel or too and then started off with really mild combo - I still err a little on the cautious side, but I'm happy with the correction I'm getting. You won't get swirls from rotary polishing, but from bad wash technique. What you can do though is cause holograms, buffer trails and worse, burn through the clear coat. You do need to be very careful, but it's not as scary as it's made out to be.Originally posted by vwthunder View PostMaybe I will PM you oneday for some polishing tips, got a machine but haven't tried it yet, someone said be carefull as I might get swirls with it

In DevilsOwn's case, Stage 1 is a purely spray on and off system - you set your desired initial spray point and when reached, the injection process takes place at full tilt.Originally posted by vwthunder View PostOh
Whats the difference between the Stage 1 and 2 WMI Kit
Where as with the Stage 2, it's a fully progressive controller, where I've set an initial spray point and a full spray point - so for example at 1.4bar initialise spray and progressively ramp up the injection until I hit 1.8bar, where I want full spray, if that makes sense.

Thank you Jarred.Originally posted by Jarred View PostWOW, that looks amazing with the appropriate amount of lowness and super cool wheels!
I sometimes feel I could lower the front a little more, but it's already difficult at it's current height in daily use, with the belly pan being much lower on a TDI than a petrol version.

Thanks for the comments Gti Dave, I wanted to go for something different, something that would lend itself to Sooty's "racing heritage".Originally posted by Gti Dave View PostCarbon interior pieces look awesome. Been trying to find them but no luck yet. Do you mind pointing me in the right direction to obtain them? Thanks. Your car looks awesome.
The guy who does all of our teams carbon fibre work did it for me - floorboards, air boxes, door cards, other plates etc. He does all of VW Motorsports carbon fibre work, as well as work for Mercedes AMG etc.

Thank you Plautos - I've read your thread from start to finish - well done! Your work is incredible! I see you're looking for cage designs - I don't have any of normal street Polo's, but I can show you what we've done to our Tarmac Rally Polo - it's very similar to the S2000 specification.Originally posted by Plautos View Postnice wheels! your car is looking good!

Thanks Greg - yeah, it's been a long joy ride with Sooty - now 2.5yrs down the line. I unfortunately don't have the budget to keep up with a lot of guys and sometimes can't do something as quickly as I would like, but it all adds to the experience and I feel it makes me appreciate the little things even more.Originally posted by Greg Roles View PostAhh great to see another diesel being worked over, and you've certainly been busy!
Great work, gee you polo guys sure lead the charge in crazy modded VW's : )
I had finally saved up for a hard core 780nm clutch and was waiting for the supplier to come back to me so that I could place my order, but my team mate discovered something yesterday, and we're taking that opportunity together! Needless to say, my clutch & flywheel budget is now blown, as a good portion of it will go towards this item, but this is so worth the wait!!

It's one of the variations of the OZ Chrono Evolution's as far as I know.

A big thank you to *SamStaR* for the awesome Christmas present - another small OEM+ something.
Thanks to my good friend & team mate, for the spare set of tail lights to do a few experiments with.
I've got a package which I need to bring down from Durban, as well as a package from Germany. Once they have all arrived I'll have to look at getting the respective items & possibly more painted.

Thanks Ssman,Originally posted by ssman View PostVery Very Nice, It gives that sleeper look and the next thing they see is the rear Sooty

I know the handle is a small change, which most will not even notice - granted the later models came with the flushed handles anyway. I just wanted to get rid of the last "shiny" bit at the back, as well as the security point of view.

Thanks GoLfMan.Originally posted by GoLfMan View Posthow hard was it to apply the laminx to the headlights?

With the shape of the headlight on the 9N3, it's no where near as simple as on the 9N or on a Golf for that matter, but add a heat gun and it's not too difficult. It took a while as I drew up a template first, cut the shape and applied and then trimmed at the end.
I used the same procedure that one would use to apply vinyl's - I bathed the Lamin-x in a soapy water solution and applied to the headlight, used a heat gun to soften it and mould it. I know the instructions from Lamin-x were to spray a little water on the headlight and apply, so I didn't exactly follow their procedure.

Any brake upgrades on the cards?
Those wheels would look even better with some big slotted rotors and big ass calipers

Hey Kangfu,Originally posted by kangfu View PostAny brake upgrades on the cards?

Yeah, I am most certainly going to be upgrading the front and rears this year, more for the performance aspect than anything else. I almost purchased a set of AP Racing 4pots from the Seat Ibiza Cupra, but the seller was a PITA. I have looked at importing a setup, which I'll more than likely have to do. My concern is the clearance between the spoke of the OZ's and the caliper.
I'm actually about to go down to my car and use a template I found from ECS Tuning - MkIII/MkIV Stage 2v1 Wheel Fitment. I have a feeling there's not enough space to run a 4pot+ caliper. I might have to settle for a normal 312mm upgrade with decent rotors.
Ciao, Matteo.
