  • 97 polo purchase

    Hey forum members
    Looking at a 97 polo , how much should I pay and what Should I look out for as problems, test drive showed up a grating noise from gearbox/clutch area, apparently now fixed, cause was a diff bearing , Does this sound ok or correct? manual 5 speed and 122k on the clock. Ta Holger

      i'd say steer clear of that particular example. i own a 97 Polo and the waterpump could go if it hasnt been replaced with a brass internaled one, also the clutches are quite heavy for a small car....
      you should be paying about $6500 to about $7500. Personally i wouldnt pay any more than that for one, but they can get into the low 8's, but it'd have to be immaculate and very low kms.

        also one more thing, if i were to buy another car again i'd shell out the extra cash and get a mk3 Golf, much more refined as the Polo is a very noisy car which can get tiring, much better engines/gearboxs and more room!
