You're the second non-Australian guy to turn up here with a 5 door GTI. Darn that makes me jealous - the 5 door was the one option I really would have forked over extra cash for!
Couldnt agree more.
Love both of the cars mate. Welcome to the forum.

well i know where you can get it from in South Africa - its distributed here by sportech - but that wont help you much in brisbane
but its made by a company called caractere - not sure at all if they are represented in australia - if they are not heres a possible business oppurtunity for any budding young entrepreneur as a possible business to open ie importing these items - caractere do a full range of vw stuff for almost all the models available now
The wheels on the black TDI, are they 17 or 18?
the wheels on the tdi are also 18" and he is also running 215/35/18 tyres - but he has done a small drop on the car (Eibach naturally)
thanks for the welcomes and compliments - both are much appreciated
Hi - the rim is actually a replica of the one on the golf gti - the one on the gti is 5/112pcd - this one is 5/100pcd so that it fits on the polo - both of them have an offset of ET35 - and this replica has a width of 8J which is a bit wider than the standard Polo rims
the additional width gives the car a slightly better handling characteristic but the ride is somewhat firmer - but on a flat road it doesnt create too much difference but hit a pothole on the road and you feel it as a bit of bone-jarring impact - but if you mostly travelling on roads you know you quickly learn where you can drive enthusiastically and where not (within your speed limits i might add)
the rolling diameter is not too far off - and using the 215/35/18 tyre keeps it around the same hence the gearing etc isnt affected too much and this whell is slightly lighter than the standard one so it doesnt affect acceleration or put too much strain on your gearbox
about the only difference betweenthis and the original gti rims in terms of looks is that the original one shines a bit more - but thats to be expected since here the golf gti set with tyres goes for a whopping R24000(ZA) which translates to around approximately $4000(AU) but i managed to get these replicas with the pirelli P-zero tyres for around R9600(ZA) which again roughly translates to around $1600(AU)
we have a few brands of replicas - these were built by a company called evo - and we also have a few other "noname brand" versions here - polo accessories are easy to come by since the Polo has been the best selling car in South Africa in competiton with and alternating with the toyota corolla and runX hatchbacks for quite a while now - so we have plenty of accesories for those available here - some of them better than others - just trying to keep mine as tasteful as possible - cos a few of those make the car become too ricey but we have a huge variety of wheels and bodykits available which can fit the Polo - so you can do lots of changes to the looks
I was in Cape Town for 3 weeks in February this year. I only spotted about 5 Polo GTI's and none were modded I've never seen so many AMG Merc's though!!!!
heres some high res pics taken with a topshelf nikon camera - quality still isnt the best cos these were taken at night - and ive reduced them down to 25% of the original size
this is the rim - these are replica's of the ones on the golf 5 gti
heres the seats - you have to sit on these to believe how comfy these are - they just wrap around you - but all you 3 door gti drivers already know that by now - these are more or less the same as you would get - only these dont tilt for access for rear passengers
the audio install - ive added some ports to break up the monotonous colour of the vinyl - also going to actually remove the vinyl soon - gonna get it all covered with the same material the seats are covered in and have the red stitching at all the corners
lights on - no flash
amp rack
will be taking some daytime pics with the same camera soon - will make sure that the car is washed and detailed before i take those pics - it looks awesome when its just been washed - but it picks up dirt very quickly again
Car looks sweet , wish they had the 5 door here, loving the wheels - does the manufacturer have a website that you know of at all
kitt
thanks
i cant seem to find an actual website of the manufacturer - its made by a company called EVO if that helps any
heres a link to the retailer that i bought it from - they may actually have a listing of the manufacturer website - if you e-mail them they may be able to help - explain where yo are from and why you cannot buy it from them
alternatively maybe these guys may make a plan to ship these out to you ....... just maybe - but im not sure how much international shipping adds to the cost and if its worth your while
but these replicas are 1/3rd the price that you would pay at a VW dealership - they have these in 5/100 pcd which would fit the polo and also 5/112pcd which would fit the golf5 - and the VW badge in the centre from, your original rims should fit these
