  • South African 4 door

Hi guys - im from Durban South Africa - and here are some pics of my 4 door Polo Gti - please excuse my poor grammar and phonecam pics - i will take some high res pics soon - just got to detail the car cos it got really dusty during the sound install - then im gonna take some good pics

the options i took were the sunroof and also some aftermarket leather and i also added a set of the 18" hufs as they are called all over the world - those are the golf 5 gti 18" rims - and i got some replicas for very cheap with pirelli p zero nero's

    well onto the pics

heres the car - this is before it settled down a bit lower - this was taken at the dealers stockroom floor before delivery - it still looks a bit high - but ive been using the car for a month now and its settled down a bit - i will do an eibach drop soon and add in some koni fsd shocks so that the car can handle the prformance mods im planning

heres a pic of the hufs at the rear

    and heres the front

the replicas were around a quarter of the stealership price and the vw badge from the stock 16"ers just fitted perfectly into the centre

heres the aftermarket leather - its very similar to what you guys get with the red stitching

ive also done a decent sound install and heres a pic off the rear hatch area

and heres one of the side panels with some detailing done to it - this side features the fuseblocks/distribution blocks for the power cable - the other side features the passive crossovers from my MB quart component speaker set

and heres the amp rack - this is visible when you drop the rear seats but its hidden from view when those seats are repositioned

heres apic of all the panels during the build process - these panels were built to be easily removable in the event of a puncture

custom spacers for door panels built from MDF to allow the window to open even though deep speakers are used - the door panel will soon be damped with some dynamat to take care of unwanted resonance

heres what the hatch area looks like at night and when i lift up the hatch to display the audio setup

and hers the night view of the amp rack

im really happy with the car for now and the only problem is that black is very difficult to keep clean - but im using meguiars products to try and keep her nicely shining - may just do a zymol polish though since ive heard that it doesnt have as much static

im also happy with the decent performance of the car - but im considering an ecu remap/flash - ive heard that revo gets it up to 156kw's - so that sounds interesting - and also im considering a caractere front bumper to make it look a bit different

A big greeting to Durban! Those rims look wild on a black Polo...almost like your running on bare metal....With the a sound system like that yer dont need an engine just pop the hatch, Wild!

heres a pic of a mates car to show what the caractere bumper looks like - im also probably going to add the eyelids like his as well - since this car is off the hook

he lives in a different province from me so it wont be a case of two cars in the same area looking identical - since he lives around a 7 hour drive away - his is a TDI by the way since we dont get the two door gti's here - only the diesels

heres a slightly different pic of the car from the first one but from a similar angle - sorry for the phonecam pics - will definitely be taking loads of better pics soon

well anyways will update when ive got better pics - thanks for reading up to here for whoever did so

Hi - yeah the tyres are very llow profile - they are 215/35/ZR18's - and they are a bit harsh over potholes - but otherwise on a good road the ride is just as good as the standard rims - only problemis if i do have a puncture i could potentially damage those rims - but they are cheap enough to replace since these are replica's

the sound system isnt very loud too - just wanted the deep low down bass - but its set for sound quality - it sounds very Hi-Fi and most people who hear it are surprised at how good it sounds

i dont need the trunk space - so its all good in that respect - ive got other cars to use when i go shopping - and those i dont mind if they get scratched or dented with supermarket trolleys - this one will show up badly on the black paint so im getting into a habit of looking after it

                      Sweet Polo's!!!

Love the eyelids. I've always wanted some for mine. Where did you get them from? Are they South African made?

My ex is in Cape Town, beautiful place!

Goodluck in the rugby tonight. Your going to need it

nope - those eyelids were imported in from 'i dont know where' by the guy whose car i posted there - he brought in 10 units of those from somwhere and was selling those for ZA 800 rands (approximately 133 AU $)- that was unpainted but already primed

apparently they are not fibreglass but some form of stronger plastic hence the highish price - not sure if he has any left but im gonna try and get a set from him - if he doesnt have anymore then ill try and find out where he sourced those from

My ex is in Cape Town, beautiful place!
yeah - CapeTown is truly a beautiful place - well worth visiting

LOL - thanks (i think) but anyways im not the biggest rugby fan in the world so i follow a policy of "whatever happens, happens" LOL - not gonna lose any sleep over it

Gee, there's not much room back there for the shopping with that sub sitting in the boot!

You're the second non-Australian guy to turn up here with a 5 door GTI. Darn that makes me jealous - the 5 door was the one option I really would have forked over extra cash for!
