Regarding my statement..Yes I was just having a go at you all.
Although I have noticed a few USA sites they place the Golf GTI front
on the Jetta.
Neil.
LOL
<<<< happy mad
I wish VW offered the Jetta GLI here.
GLI isn't just a GTI grill on the Jetta they actually make a GTI sedan for US market with more sportier suspension than on offered here
Sorry for OT posts people.
Budget Conscience go the Polo GTI.
Overall Ability go the Golf GTI.- Ben

IMHO you can buy the polo gti and do a bit of work comparitively on the cheap and save lots of $$$$'s and still get an awesome car
i also had the golf gti vs polo gti vs R32 inner debate and i decided that the R32 was going to be too little car for too much money here in my country and the golf gti DSG was super awesome but i just spent 2/3rd the amount and got the Polo gti - and im not looking back
reason - lower repayments and then lower insurance and also more cash to do some mods to make the car a better driving experience - and a huge factor considering the fuel price where i live is the lower fuel consumption - especially when driving a bit enthusiastically - it makes a huge difference to your pocket - if that is a consideration (to some it isnt - but i suppose that depends on the fuel price where you live)

And with the $$ you save you could get flash and suspension upgrade

Cheers and good luck with your Polo ... they're a great little car.

and the winner is....
Hey gang,
Thanks for all the input, I think I have made up my mind
A couple of reasons for moving on from the WRX (still a great car - and I may regret this whole exercise) weight - it just feels sluggish to get going (especially when compared to the MK1 Khana car), I hate the laggy "nothin till 3k" turbo. Also, given the other cars in the garage, most of the time it's just me in the car - the WRX is bigger than I need.
And its a bit too thirsty - petrol in Canberra hovers at around the 1.35 + for Ultimate, so any saving here will be appreciated.
There is no doubt that the Golf GTI is a fantastic car - period! However as was mentioned, it is nearly $20k more than the polo with similar options (no DSG obviously) the ride is superb (but a little restrained??, and I wonder if this leads it to appeal to a slightly older demographic than the Polo might ???)
So I think the Polo will get the nod: leather, eclipse stereo (with GPS, iPOD, Bluetooth), tint and APR flash. That little lot should come in at approx 35kish (maybe ??) which is just fine.
