  • what's wrong with my dealer

    My son just came back from the 1st check up and the dealer changed the engine oil to 0W40! but mine is a turbo car, how come they change it to 0W40 but not 15W-40????

    0w 40 is what we run in all our 1.8T's - I think you have done well!

      But my friends are running 15W-40 on there turbo so i'm jsut wondering is there anything wrong with it? PLUS i'm living in Hong Kong a prety hot city right now, will there be a problem?

        Call your local VW dealer - there is a recommended list of oils that can be put in your car & a specific standard. I'm sure they would be in big trouble if they ran the wrong stuff.

        I don't know if your friends running it in their "turbo's" (are they VW turbo's?) are trained mechanics or when they last wen't to VW tech school - I'd be inclined to trust the dealer on this one.

        Seeming you are in HK - they may have a different specification there.

        We have been running 0-40 in 1.8Ts since it was available years ago.

          I was told by vw service dept to run 5w40


          Should i be looking for a different oil?

                My friends they are drving a GOlf 2.0T FSI, so may be a little bit different then mine?

                  My dealer also recommended running Castrol 5w40. Hope they know what they are doing.....

                    Hi all, I am planning to change engine oil for my Polo GTI when it reaches 7500KM. Does anyone have an idea as to what brand and type of oil is suitable for this car? e.g 10W-40 Cheers
