  • Front End Knock/Clunk

I know I seen someone also discussing a similar problem with their Polo GTi but I cant find the post for the life of me.

I am getting a clunk/knocking sound from the drivers side front end when taking corners 20-25kmh +. I dropped it off to the dealer under warranty but they couldnt find anything out of character - not sure how hard they tried.

I know its not right and this needs to be addressed.

Any suggestions on possible causes/fixes would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...?t=2693&page=3 from 5th post down and

I have had shocks replaced didnt fix it... its more common than i thought, I think a characteristic of some crappy part of the car that no dealer can identify... the biggest prob is getting a dealer to hear it, cos when you take it there it wont make the noise for them

I find i can replicate it pretty consitantly by driving into a driveway with a fair amount of left hand lock at a brisk walking pace.

If you can do this too, then there is a good chance of being able to replicate this at the dealerships.

        Good luck

x 2. I've also replaced my suspension with coilovers. So it has to be somehting to do with the brakes, mounts or driveshaft?

Does it happen with ESP turned off?

well im not entirely sure if its my imagination and I might need to drive it more with ESP off but it still seems to be doing it but not as bad or to the same extent.

I get the same problem i thought it might have been the coilovers then i thought it might be the racing top mounts but there all in tight so the only thing i think it could be is the swaybar when it is under load.

Ive had the sound for ages now and have just given up on it, it ****s me trying to figure out what it is lol.

                            Update

Update: Its definately still doing it with ESP off.

ARRRHGHHH I wanna source the problem because I wanna get the car lowered but know once I take the car to the dealer with the car lowered they will say its due to the aftermarket suspension
